The Foundations (Jersey) Law 200- (the "Law") was approved by the States of Jersey (the Island’s parliament) on 22 October 2008 and it is anticipated that the Law will come into force during the first or second quarter of 2009.

The Law is important for Jersey's finance industry: it will introduce a new type of legal entity, the foundation, which can be described as a hybrid of a trust and a company.
